What to Expect at Your Newborn Session
Session Length and Environment
Newborn sessions typically last between 1.5 and 2.5 hours. To create a comfortable and soothing environment for your baby, the studio will be warm with white noise playing gently in the background. Please arrive on time, as late arrivals can impact the number of poses and setups we can achieve. Due to limited seating, please bring only essential companions to the session.
Posing and Baby's Comfort
I have a curated selection of poses that I aim to capture during your session. However, every baby is unique, and some may not enjoy being moved around or touched extensively. Please understand that while I'll do my best to achieve all desired poses, it's not guaranteed. If your baby becomes unsettled, we'll focus on simpler, swaddled poses. A reshoot may be considered if we're unable to capture enough images.
Preparing Your Baby
To ensure a successful session, it's important to prepare your baby beforehand:
Keep baby awake: About an hour before leaving home, keep your baby awake through playtime or bathing.
Full tummy: Feed your baby approximately 30 minutes before leaving home to encourage a full and sleepy arrival.
Avoid irritants: Minimize spicy, gassy, or dairy-heavy foods in your diet for 24 hours prior to the session.
Baby's attire: Dress your baby in a button or zip-up sleeper without layers.
Bring essentials: Pack extra bottles, wipes, gripe water/oval drops, and a pacifier.
Family and Sibling Photos
We can incorporate family and sibling photos toward the end of the session. Please dress family members in neutral colors and keep sibling outfits simple (white or neutral tops for boys, white or denim dresses for girls). Due to the session's flow, older siblings might be more comfortable joining us later.
Additional Information
I provide a variety of sanitized props, headbands, and hats for your baby's session. If you have sentimental items you'd like included, please let me know beforehand.
